MY FARM TREES

Restoration for Resilience

My Farm Trees incentivises farmer- and community-led tree-based restoration of degraded landscapes.

Global environmental benefits, resilient economic development, improved livelihoods

My Farm Trees empowers restoration for resilience and provides a platform to promote tree cover using native trees, and includes documentation, verification and quality control. It uses blockchain to create a transparent link of information from seed collection to tree growth – to improve livelihoods, food security and climate mitigation.

The platform is funded by the Global Environment Facility, implemented by IUCN and executed by the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).

One quarter of the world’s land area is highly degraded. This is undermining the wellbeing of 3.2 billion people.

Climate change is predicted to intensify stresses on land resources, with crop yields expected to be reduced by a further 10% globally by 2050.

Smallholders and rural communities are directly impacted by land degradation, and have the greatest power to scale nature-based solutions to restoration.

Many smallholders are located far from cities. They may not have access to finance, infrastructure, technology or knowledge.

The platform gives smallholders and rural communities access to many of these resources – allowing them to play a critical role in achieving global restoration goals.
